It started with a World Cup bot

brag.bot grew out of BRKT, a bracket-pool bot that lives in WhatsApp and keeps score for real friend groups during the World Cup. The brackets turned out to be the small part. What worked was the bot sitting in the room, catching the trash talk, remembering the bad beats, and dropping a receipt at the right moment.

The idea

Every group chat already bets. On games, on elections, on whether Dave will actually run the marathon. Most of those bets evaporate. They go unmade, unsettled, and unremembered. We are building the friend in the chat who writes it down, settles the score, and never lets anyone forget. Real money rides regulated rails. Everything else is bragging rights. We never become the house.
